Getting Active Challenge
In honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, you are invited to take the fitness challenge!
Are you getting at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day?
According to the President’s Council on Fitness,Sports & Nutrition, regular physical activity increases your chances of living a longer, healthier life and reduces your risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, and even colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and type 2 diabetes.
The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that adults aim for two hours and 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week. Think you have to go to a gym? You can actually get the activity you need by walking fast, dancing, biking, swimming, and even working around the house.
Don’t forget to include muscle-strengthening activities – like lifting weights, pilates, power yoga or using exercise bands at least two days a week to strengthen bones, muscles and joints and reduce arthritis pain.
Physical activity is for everybody, every age and every shape. Besides being healthy, exercise can also be fun and help you look your best, help you get a good night’s rest, and improve your overall mood!
